A
company called
Stained
Glass Memorials, LLC makes tombstones with stained glass
insets.
The stained glass is actually a real stained glass window. They
start by cutting a window through the tombstone, and then set
the stained glass inside, allowing it to be enjoy from either
the front or back of the tombstone.
I imagine cemetery vandals would go to town with stuff like
that!
The Stained Glass Memorial unit was invented by 38-year old
Adrienne Mazzone, whose husband died two years ago from duodenal
cancer. As a tribute to him, she and her children created a
stained glass cross, had it encased and professionally sealed,
then placed in the headstone. Adrienne says that she and her
children are the only ones who visit the cemetery with flowers
and glass cleaner.
It attracted so much attention in the small cemetery in Cornwall,
NY, that Adrienne applied for a patent. Today, her business
offers them up for sale nationwide through funeral directors
and headstone suppliers.
