Ancestry.com Launches Document on Demand

August 19, 2004

A new feature has been added to Ancestry.com allowing registered users to request paper copies of documents for selected databases. The service, currently known as "Document on Demand", allows users to obtain high-resolution printed copies of census pages and newspapers.

Only registered users, having a paid subscription that provides access to one or more of the above databases will be allowed to request a copy through Document on Demand.

When viewing a record in one of the above databases, there will be a link entitled, "High Quality Printout". Clicking this link will take a user through the process of obtaining a printed copy of the census page, newspaper, or marriage license. Prices range anywhere from $7.95 to $24.95 depending on the size of printout. The print will be mailed to the user in a protective tube within 7-10 business days.

Clicking on "High-quality printout" allows a user to request a printed copy of the document.

You can request a small or full size copy.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
