Esk General Cemetery
Esk Shire, Queensland, Australia

Contributed by Jade Werner, Jun 21, 2005 [jadewerner@bigpond.com]. Total records = 1,603.

Esk General Cemetery is located in the town of Esk in the Brisbane Valley off Hwy 17, between Fernvale and Moore.

This transcription has been compiled using photocopies of the original register which is located at the Esk Shire Council office. In creating this transcription it has been noted that it appears for one reason or another, the register has been rewritten from an earlier record.

The rewritten entries are only for the period of 1877 to 1895. Esk Shire Council has no earlier records and has no explanation for the rewritten entries other than they may be held by one of the local churches. If you feel that there has been an error made, due to transcribing a record, which in part contains poor handwriting, please feel free to contact me with the details you think the record should contain, and I will check it, and correct it, if need be.

Entries that may contain illegible writing and I have had to assume the name of the persons concerned, exist, if you can verify the correct spelling of the name, it would be greatly appreciated. If in search of a name please be sure to use all variants of the spelling as I have found some names have been misspelled. This record is for all entries made between Aug 4th 1877 & Mar 5th 1993.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
