Boswell Cemetery
Central Kootenay, British Columbia, Canada

Contributed by Garry Burch, Dec 03, 2003 [habcreek@kootenay.com]. Total records = 90.

It is accessed by traveling north along Highway 3A for 47 KM from Creston, BC. It can also be reached via the Kootenay Lake ferry route. After landing at Kootenay Bay travel along Highway 3A for 34 KM. The access road is on a corner and has a small sign indicating Cemetery. If traveling from Creston you turn right and from the ferry it is a left turn across traffic.

The Boswell Cemetery is located in the Regional District Central Kootenay in the Community of Boswell, British Columbia, Canada. It is a well cared for Cemetery overlooking Kootenay Lake.

There were two names on the sexton list that I was unable to find. The following comments are a personal view and should not be interpreted as actual fact: 1. I could find no name Morkier and would suggest Morkier and Morkin are the same person 2. There was no Schell, Mrs. to be seen. Would suggest Schell and Schelle are the same.

The marker for Embree has the date for both birth and death for William B. but the death date for Marion E. shows only 19 __. Some of the grave sites are covered with a thick layer of moss, needles, leaves and grass. There is no distinctive indication of a marker or inscription but should the layers be removed there is a possibility there may be marker underneath.

There is a white cross with Mother, 27 Nov 1929. It does not appear to be connected to any other plot. There is no indication if it is a birth or death date.

Where it is indicated n/f the name was on the sexton record list but not found in the cemetery.

This Cemetery was walked and transcribed Jan 28, 2003. The records are based on this walk as well as tombstone inscriptions and sexton records.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
