Bookton Cemetery
Windham Township, Norfolk County, Ontario

Concession 4, Lots 21 & 22, Windham Township, Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada.

Contributed by Murray E. Fair, Sep 20, 2006, last edited May 16, 2011 [murrayfair@rogers.com]. Total records = 810.

To reach this cemetery, begin from the intersection of Hwy 53 and Hwy 24, there are traffic lights there, west of Brantford, travel south on Hwy 24, through Brant County. Continue into Norfolk County, several kilometres, watch for a road sign on your right, indicating Norfolk Rd 19 West, Vanessa, turn right on to Norfolk Rd 19 West, travel for approximately 13 kilometres, you will come to a stop sign. Turn left there because Norfolk Rd 19 goes south a short distance and then curves back to the west where you will be able to see Bookton Cemetery on the south side of Norfolk Rd 19.

This cemetery is active and continues to accept burials. It has considerable room for expansion. It is actually divided in two areas, one being the older original burial ground, then a newer area where burials are now taking place. Bookton Lane, a narrow country lane, separates the two areas. The cemetery is very well maintained and is under the jurisdiction of the Bookton Cemetery Board.

I walked this cemetery in Aug of 2006, reading and recording each tombstone and or grave marker that could be read in order to complete the transcription process.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
