From Barnston take Route 141 toward Ayers Cliff. After
about a mile or two take the first road on your left called Madore Road. The cemetery
is just after you turn onto this road, on your right, in a clump of trees. There
is not much place to park and no access road but just a short walk to the cemetery.
This small cemetery has been used for close to 100 years, from
1826-1922. It is maintained by the Barnston Heritage Cemetery Association.
The
cemetery is small, but not easy to get about in, because there are several woodchuck
holes and uneven ground. Some stones are in need of straightening. It is enclosed
in a fence with a gate.
I walked and read this cemetery in in April, 2006.
