Saint Peter & All Saints Cemetery
Battlesden, Bedfordshire County, England

Submitted by Deborah Garrand, Jun 16, 2004, last updated Mar 21, 2005 [debgarrand@googlemail.com]. Total records = 411.

From Dunstable take the A5 northbound. In Hockliffe turn left along Woburn Road (A4012). Pass a turning on the left to Battlesden and Hill Farm. Take the next turning on the left signposted Battlesden and follow the narrow single track road to the end. The Church and surrounding cemetery is on your left.

I know very little about the history of the cemetery other than that there has been a church on the site for about 600 years. It is a very tiny church and a tiny cemetery in what is still an extremely tiny very rural village. There is no Rector or Vicar and has not been for some years. The church is left unlocked so it is easy to wander in and look round. It does appear to be accepting new burials - there is one quite new monument with a message from the young grandchild of the deceased recently entered into the church visitor's book.

I have transcribed these records, which represent all the legible tombstones present in the cemetery on 13 Jun 2004. I later was able to add records from the burial register up to 1812, plus making a second visit and recording the recent burials.

    cemetery records

A free online library of cemetery records from thousands of cemeteries across the world, for historical and genealogy research.

    Clear Digital Media, Inc.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
