Holy Cross Churchyard
Scopwick, Lincolnshire County, England

Church Lane, Scopwick, Lincolnshire, Eng.

Submitted by Shelley Clack, Jan 19, 2009, last edited Apr 21, 2009 [sclack@tiscali.co.uk]. Total records = 89.

Holy Cross Churchyard is located at Church Lane, Scopwick. If planning a visit take the A153 from Sleaford to Ruskington. Then take the B1198 to Scopwick.

Burials are primarily to the north and south side of the church. Though there are a few on the east and west side of the church. On the south side a lot of the stones are laid flat. Grass has been allowed to grow over them and most are very worn.

There are a few internal memorial stones, which I have included in the list. This can be identified by (Int) at the end of the details. The churchyard is well maintained.

The last burials occurred before the Second World War. However, the churchyard was not officially closed for burials until 1988. There is an area for the internment of cremated remains, which is still in use. This area does not have any memorial stones or markers.

This is a complete list of all visible gravestones and markers. It was recorded on Aug 03, 2008.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
