Saint Benedict Churchyard
Lincoln, Lincolnshire County, England

Contributed by Shelley Clack, Jun 21, 2008, last edited Jul 13, 2008 [sclack@tiscali.co.uk]. Total records = 44.

Saint Benedict Churchyard is located at Saint Benedict Square, Lincoln. To visit, follow the A15 to Lincoln, then turn onto the A57. Alternatively, follow the A46 to Lincoln, then join the A57. The churchyard is in a pedestrian only area, so you will need to park your car. There are lots of sign-posted car parks in the area. Walk down the A57 to its junction with High Street. If you turn to face Lincoln Cathedral you will be looking at the pedestrian area. Saint Benedict Square is near BHS.

Most of the gravestones are laid flat to form a path behind the church. There are a few gravestones laid flat along the edge of the church to its left.

During 1854 and 1855 the Lincoln Burial Board was formed for nine Lincoln parishes, including Saint Benedict. In 1856 the board opened Canwick Road cemetery, which resulted in the closure of Saint Benedict churchyard.

This is a full list of all visible gravestones. It was recorded on Jun 05, 2008.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
