Saint Mary and the Holy Rood Churchyard

The village is on the A52 ten miles southwest of Boston. You turn off the A52 directly onto Church Street. The churchyard runs round all four sides of the church. These areas are tended and the graves easy to reach. Many have suffered from weathering.

The churchyard was expanded in 1865. This area is behind the church on the right hand side and has been left to go wild. Nettles are at waist height and there are lots of them. It is difficult to both see and access the graves during the spring and summer. This area is best visited in the winter when the growth has died back. A cemetery was opened in 1900, so the churchyard is no longer used for burials since that time.
