Saint Nicholas Cemetery
County Wicklow, Ireland

Tournant, Dunlavin,
Co. Wicklow, Ireland

Contributed by Anna Ryan, Jun 10, 2001 [annaryan001@hotmail.com]. Total records = 37.

This is a very old cemetery about a mile from the Village of Dunlavin. It is very neglected and the headstones are unreadable except for one.

I visited this cemetery in summer of 2001, reading all existing markers.

Memorial:

In The Village of Dunlavin there is a monument to those men killed in the Rebellion of 1798. It reads: "36 Patriots Executed Here On 24 May 1798"
Thirty three of the names are listed below.

The stone beside the monument reads:
"40 United Irishmen were massacred on Dunlavin Fairgreen, 24 May 1798"
In the monument photo this stone can be seen in the background.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
