Stills Crossroad, Bullock County, Alabama

Lat: 31° 59' 50"N, Lon: 85° 53' 34"W

Contributed by John H. Adams, Aug 02, 2008, last edited Nov 07, 2009 [johms@bellsouth.net]. Total records = 15.

The Stills Cemetery is located just north of Stills Crossroad (intersection of County Road 7 and County Road 8) in the southwest corner of Bullock County, Alabama. From Union Springs, Alabama, take US Rte 82 west 12.6 miles to Bullock County Rte 7, turn left or south and travel 8 miles to the intersection with Bullock County Rte 8. Two tenths of a mile north of the crossroad, an unpaved road to the right (east) leads across some fields, about 400 feet, to the heavily forested cemetery on a slight hill.

Although surrounded by a barbed wire fence, this cemetery is in very poor condition, overgrown, unmaintained, suffering from vandalism. There is no known party responsible for the upkeep of this cemetery.

For further information on this cemetery, see the survey of this cemetery contributed by Mrs. Henry W. Folmar, in the Alabama Genealogical Society Magazine, Vol. 8, #3, July 1974, p. 30. Deterioration of the cemetery is clearly demonstrated by noting the number of headstones which have been lost since 1974.

Nancy M. Adams and I surveyed this cemetery on Dec 03, 2002.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
