To reach cemetery take Highway 79B, which is the main street of Florence and turn west on Adamsville Road. It is one mile from Main Street to the east edge of Butte View Cemetery.

There is no fence or sign for the Butte View Cemetery. Three stones are surrounded by a white board fence and are visible on the north side of Adamsville Road.

Because of flooding there are large gullies and some of the graves may have washed out. Some stones have been vandalized and the area has been used for a trash dump. A plea to the town of Florence to improve and preserve the area has been made. Butte View Cemetery in general is in great disrepair.

Part of the area to the north of the cemetery area was incorporated into existing farm land while part of the Butte View Cemetery, an adjoining parcel of land, has since, in part, been incorporated into the A.O.U.W. cemetery area.

Dr. Bertram Snyder started restoration of the area cemeteries in 1973, taking pictures, and identifying some unmarked graves. A scrapbook of his work can be found in the Pinal County Historical Society Museum in Florence. 715 S. Main Street, Florence, AZ 85232.

I completed this transcription by reading the cemetery and research on Apr 10, 2005.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
