From Sacramento, take I-5 north to I99 / Marysville, to SR70 exit /towards Marysville. When in Marysville, follow signs for SR70 Oroville. Continue on SR70 to Oroville Dam Blvd (Oro Dam Blvd.) turn right (east) from freeway. Proceed to Feather River Blvd. (1st light) turn left (north) onto Feather River Blvd. Cemetery is located on the left (west) side of street between a strip mall and vacant commercial building.

"Thousands of Jewish emigrants escaping religious persecution and economic oppression in Germany and Eastern Europe joined the Gold Rush to California. They brought with them a strong work ethic and religious conviction. These settlers were among Oroville's earliest workers, merchants, and civic leaders.

According to their religious custom, Jewish persons are buried in their own cemetery. This cemetery was established April 5, 1859." This plaque is donated by Congregation Beth Israel, Chico, CA in memory of these original Jewish settlers.

It is not owned and maintained by the Jewish community, but rather by the Oroville Cemetery District. It appears to be accepting new burials. Last burial was in Oct of 2002.

I walked and read this cemetery in May 20, 2004. It includes all existing and legible headstones.
