Daggett Pioneer Cemetery
Daggett, San Bernardino County, California

Lat: 34° 51' 31"N, Lon: 116° 52' 45"W

Contributed by Steve Johnson, last edited Mar 22, 2007 [steve@cleardigitalmedia.com]. Total records = 164.

The town of Daggett was originally established the 1860's as "Calico Junction" but later renamed to its current name after former Lt. Governor John Daggett, who owned some of the mines at Calico. Historically, Daggett served as the transportation hub for the silver and borax mined out of Calico and other mines. The town of Daggett today is home to about 200 residents.

The cemetery is still active. I counted 164 readable markers. There appears to be another 200 unreadable markers, and perhaps other unmarked graves. To reach the cemetery, take Interstate 40 to the town of Daggett, which lies about 5 miles east of Barstow. Head east on the National Trails Highway (old Route 66). The cemetery lies on the north side of the road, just on the edge of town limits.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
