Oro Grande Historic Memorial Park
Oro Grande, San Bernardino County, California

Lat: 34°36'00"N, Lon: 116°19'46"W

Contributed by Steve Johnson [steve@cleardigitalmedia.com]. Total records = 42.

The town of Oro Grande dates back to 1852 with the founding of a trading post along the Mojave River. Gold mining operations began shortly after. During the early 1900's, a cement factory was built, which still runs today. Most of the people interred at the cemetery are miners and cement workers.

Approximately 132 graves were spotted, most of which are marked by white wooden crosses. Most markers do not provide grave information.

To reach the cemetery, visit the town of Oro Grande, which lies along the National Trails Highway (Old Route 66), about a few miles north of Victorville. The cemetery is at the end of Olive Street.

I visited this cemetery on November 10, 2001. All information below was compiled from tombstone inscriptions.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
