History

Iowa Veterans Cemetery held its groundbreaking ceremony on Veterans Day in 2006. Construction began in late July of the following year, with the dedication occurring on July 3, 2008. At the time of the dedication, over 1,000 veterans and eligible dependents had already been determined eligible. The first of 76 scheduled interments began on July 7th.

Property for the cemetery was donated by Bob Knapp and the Ronald Kenyon family. Ultimately, the cemetery is expected to provide spaces for 81,000 burials.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
