To reach Mountain View take Soldier Creek Road out of Fairfield. It veers to the right, and back north again and continues for about 3 miles. When you reach the third crossroad after making the turn north, turn left onto another road, and the cemetery will be in a very short distance.

The Mountain View cemetery was once called Soldier cemetery. The cemetery started in the early 1880's. This cemetery is owned and maintained by the county, and is still active.

Camas Prairie is a high plateau-like valley in South Central Idaho encased by mountains to the north and south. The average elevation is about five thousand feet. It slopes gently from west to east and from north to south, in which direction all the streams flow. Fairfield is a town in this valley. There are 4 main cemeteries in this valley, the Manard, Hill City, Mountain View and Corral, all maintained by the county.

I walked and transcribed this cemetery in Feb of 2003.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
