Pine Cemetery
Elmore County, Idaho

Lat: 43° 28' 48"N, Lon: 115° 18' 35"W

Contributed by Judy Hopkins, Oct 19, 2007, last edited Jun 14, 2012 [jnahopkins@yahoo.com]. Total records = 42.

This cemetery is located south of the corner of Featherville Road (NF-61) and Sloan Gulch Road on the east side of Sloan Gulch Road.

This cemetery was moved to the current location during the construction of Anderson Ranch Dam. This cemetery was orginally located down the valley in the old town of Pine before it was moved.

I was told the cemetery is now on Forest Service land and the more recent markers are only memorials with no actual burials. The Idaho Snow Riders Club now maintains the cemetery.

The Bureau of Reclamation made a tabulation of the cemetery on Aug 2, 1948 before it was moved to it's present location. This information is found at the Idaho State Historical Library. Area enclosed by fence is covered by weeds, sagebrush and grass, appears to have had little care in recent years. At present this area is used as pasture land.

2 graves were located on the Lower Peck Ranch in the vicinity of Pine within the Anderson Ranch Dam reservoir area and were suppose to be removed to the relocated Cemetery.

I'm sure time has changed the area and graves as it wasn't actively taken care of until about 10 years ago. This was an old mining town area as well as a recreational area for the lake now.

I visited and read this cemetery in Sep of 2007. This includes all existing and legible stones and markers.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
