This listing was contributed by Edward Benningfield [knobcreekboy@mindspring.com].  Total records = 181.

Copied in Summer 1998

(Hodgenville map, Section 4-M-46 Carter coordinates) The cemetery is located in Hodgenville just east of highway 210, near the fairgrounds. The "Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church" began in Larue County in 1853. In the early years of the 19th century families in what is now Our Lady of Mercy parish were served by priests from St. Thomas Church and Seminary. One of these early Catholic parish members was Elias Riney of Knob Creek. He was one of Abe Lincoln's first teachers. The cemetery dates back into the 1850's. Several old soldiers are here including Dominick Morley, Robert Middleton, James Conner, Joseph Edwards and Robert Mulhall. The Church is long since gone.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
