This cemetery can be found behind the Saint Mark Church at 7124 River Road, Bethesda, MD. It is down a steep slope behind the church, which it is not affiliated with.

This cemetery is very small and in fair condition, and is in a small wooded area between the church and some houses. It looks as though it is tended somewhat regularly. I have not found out who might have the records or owns this cemetery now.

According to a sign at the cemetery, this is the Burying Ground for the Concord Methodist Episcopal Church from 1818 to 1940. The church merged with another church, selling the church that was beside this cemetery. It is now Saint Mark Orthodox Church, who does not own this cemetery.

There appear to be more graves here. Some basestones are present but the inscribed topstones are missing. One topstone is mostly broken and illegible, and there are other smaller stones embedded in the ground. If anyone has proof of names missing from my listing, I would be happy to add them.

I visited and walked this cemetery on Mar 17, 2010. This includes all existing and legible stones and markers at this time.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
