Hays Family Cemetery
Montgomery County, Maryland

22310 West Harris Road
Barnesville, Maryland

Contributed by Anne Braun, Jun 02, 2004 [annieb1961@comcast.net]. Total records = 9.

In Barnesville, from the intersection of Highway 109(Old Hundred Road) and Barnesville Road go .2 miles west until you reach West Harris Road. Turn and go north. The cemetery is on a hill behind the first house on the west side of the road.

A family cemetery that is now being taken care of. All of the burials took place between 1820-1860. Before the current owners bought the property, the cemetery was neglected. The stones and the fence were down. The current owners have now fixed both the headstones and the fence.

On July 4, 1997, the cemetery was dedicated to the town of Barnesville in honor of the Hays Family who were one of the first settlers of Barnesville.

I visited and walked this cemetery on May 28, 2004.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
