The Bowdoin cemetery lies on the northwest side of Bowden Point east of the Marsh River. To reach it from Road 174 turn onto Bowden Point Road, which is tar. When you get to the end of the tar you go a little to the right and take a dirt road down over the hill and follow that around to the right to a small gravel pit and on the hill to the right is the cemetery.

My dad said the residents were quite upset about the naming of the road. It was suppose to be Bowdoin Point road.

The cemetery has a small partial wooden fence on one side that my dad and us fixed about 27 years ago. About 2 weeks ago my grandaughter and I went down and cleaned the head stones which dad said haven't ever been cleaned. The cemetery is my dad's back family. My grandmother was a Bowdoin and she used to live down there when she was a child with her family.

This is a family cemetery not in use anymore. The first death listed is 1930, last in 1903.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
