Gowell Cemetery
North Berwick, York County, Maine
Little River Rd, North Berwick ME
Lat: 43° 32' 16"N, Lon: 70° 51' 07"W
Contributed by Robert W. Etzel, Jr, May 30, 2004, edited Sep 15, 2004 [etzelbobby@aol.com]. Total records = 8.
Located on Little River Rd., 6th tenths of a mile after crossing over the bride over Little River coming from Lebanon going toward Berwick on the East (left) side of the Road. It is located about 100-200 feet back from the road in the woods.
This is an old inactive private family cemetery with 6 upright headstones with 7 names on them, and one headstone, which is laying flat, with one name on it. The headstones are in very good condition considering their age.
There are also 3 additional stones which I believe to be footstones. The cemetery is bordered by 11 granite posts which at one time had a fence running between them. I think the cemetery is located on private property on the original Gowell family homestead.
According to records I received from the North Berwick Town Hall, this is a complete list of all in this cemetery, although I found no stone for Roxanna Gowell, which is noted.
I compiled this listing on Oct 26, 2003 through a visitation and and viewing tombstones.
