The cemetery is located 6 miles west of Roseau on Highway 11, turn right (north) on Highway 89, drive approx. 2 miles, now start watching for the Mellum Cemetery on your left hand side (west) you will turn unto the cemetery crossing.

This cemetery was est in 1895, the church is no longer present by the cemetery. This is a typical pioneer place for the burial of the dead. Many of the earlier illnesses claimed the lives of the young children as it is shown here. The five handmade crosses painted white all lined in a row, all belong to a family with five small children. The older monuments are written on in Swedish or Norwegian Inscriptions, there are Marble stones & Military stones.

The cemetery is very well kept & in good condition, Selvin Jr. & Debbie Erickson have been the caretakers, mowing the grass, making the other necessary needs for the cemetery. The fence around the cemetery has been taken down, appears a new fence is in the process of being built. The Rose Free Lutheran Church is the owner of the cemetery, maintenance of the cemetery is by perpetual care giving, donations are welcome and also welcome volunteer work.

I walked and read the cemetery on Nov 24, 2008. This transcription is complete and includes reading of all existing stones and markers. A digital camera was used for pictures.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
