In Stanberry MO, starting from E Main St, drive north onto US Hwy 169 north for 1.88mi, then left onto state Hwy B and continue north for 2.63 miles, turn left or west left for 1.40 miles, then turn right or north for about mile.

This cemetery was established on land owned by Judge William Enoch Liggett c. 1863 in the Alanthus Grove area. It was then owned by his first son, John Thomas Liggett & Sadie Finders who had their house on the property.

The cemetery is now on land owned by Gene Stowell. It is just inside the gate on your left as you turn into his property, at the bottom of the hill. Much of the time it is overgrown and difficult to see. One should always obtain permission to go through the gate into the cow pasture to the graveyard.

I have visited this cemetery several times. Some of the information is from the Gentry Geneological Society library. I completed my transcription on Sep 30, 2011.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
