Friendship Chapel Cemetery
Wake Forest, Wake County, North Carolina

0 Forestville Rd.* Franklin St. (SR. 2195) Wake Forest NC

Lat: 35° 57' 36"N, Lon: 78° 30' 29"W

Contributed by Shirley Olson, Apr 09, 2006 [shirley32olson@yahoo.com]. Total records = 20.

From US #1 north (Capital Blvd.), take the Wake Forest exit, Alt. #1, (Main St. South), 1 mile to a traffic light at Rogers Rd. Turn right onto Rogers Rd. (SR 2052) (only runs one way). Go about 1 mile on Rogers Rd. to a left turn onto Franklin St. and go a little less than 1 mile to the dead end marked by red flags. Park by the side of the road and proceed into the wooded area ahead. (* Wake County Real Estate Data says the cemetery address is 0 Forestville Rd., but that is misleading. The only approach is from Franklin St.)

The cemetery appears to lie directly in the path of the planned extension of Franklin St. This part of Wake County is being heavily developed and the uniting of the 2 parts of Franklin St. is inevitable.
The burial ground lies within a rusting barbed wire fence enclosing 1.64 acres. It is very neglected and overgrown with at least 10 deeply sunken graves, so care must be taken when viewing the cemetery. A mat of leaves cover the ground which is irregular. A number of headstones are in good condition. Part of the graves are in an orderly row but others are scattered randomly. It appears to be an abandoned cemetery.

I walked this cemetery on Apr 03, 2006, with Kari DiMotta and Suzanne Yu.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
