Contributed by Shirley Olson, Jun 18, 2004 [shirley32olson@yahoo.com]. Total records = 30.

From the intersection of Hwy. 401, (N. Main St.), and Judd Pkwy.,(SR 2768), in Fuquay-Varina, go 1.6 mi. south on N. Main St. to the intersection of Hwy. 401 and Hwy. 42 (Academy St.) and turn west (right) on to Hwy. 42. Go .4 mi. to Bridge St., which intersects from the right. The Jones Soccer Field is visible on your right. On the left side of Hwy. 42, across from the Soccer Field, accessed by a dirt road, and set back several hundred feet, is the cemetery.

This is a private family cemetery of the Jones family, on private property and may only be accessed or viewed with the permission of the owner. The cemetery is located on a land grant dating back to 1790, (date supplied by Mr. Warren Jones) deeded to Etheldred Jones, a veteran of the Revolutionary War who served as a Captain in the North Carolina Militia, and has been in continuous ownership by Jones family descendants since. Mr. Warren Jones walked through the cemetery with me and graciously defined the relationships.

Surrounded by ancient oaks and cedars, the cemetery is neatly kept and well cared for. There is room for more family burials.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
