At the intersection of Birchleaf Drive and Penny Road (SR 1379), turn right onto Penny Road for a very short distance (maybe 1/8 mile), you will see the cemetery on the right or south side of the road.

Only one grave is located in the side yard of the beautifully preserved frame house built by Jesse Wood Penny and his wife, Lillian Franks Penny in 1898. Both Penny and Franks family names are interwoven in the history of Wake County. The property is private and may not be accessed without permission from the owners.

I visited this burial site and recorded from headstone on Nov 29, 2003.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
