Rand Cemetery
Wake County, North Carolina

2208 Benson Hwy (Rte. 50), Garner NC

Lat: 35° 39' 48"N, Lon: 78° 36' 30"W

Contributed by Shirley Olson, Jan 30, 2002, last edited Dec 14, 2005 [shirley32olson@yahoo.com]. Total records = 15.

Directions: From Interstate 40: Exit on 401 S. and drive south about 5 miles to Tryon. Bear left on Hwy 70S and continue on 70S about a mile to the traffic light at Timber Road. Turn right on Timber Road continuing for about 5 or 6 miles until you reach the traffic light on Benson Hwy. (Rte. 50) and turn right(south). About 1-2 mile on the right you will pass New Bethel Church and cemetery and shortly after that there will be a second church on the right, Garner Church of God. The cemetery is not visible from the road.

In a grove of trees on a gentle slope above the intersection of Benson Hwy. And Buffalo Rd., obscured from view by cedar trees that enclose it, is this little cemetery with just 15 graves. The tombstones are the thin, fragile ones that tell you they are very old, and the in-ground markers are also weathered, but the cemetery is immaculate and lovingly cared for.

I have transcribe from my reading of the tombstones when I visited the cemetery in January of 2002.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
