Palisade cemetery is located in a steep canyon along the Humboldt River about 12 miles south of Carlin. The cemetery is accessible from the West Carlin exit (# 279) on Interstate 80 to state route 278. The last two miles are on a gravelled road.

Palisade was founded as a shipping and transfer point with the building of the railroad in 1868 and the addition of a 90 mile spur line south to Eureka. By the 1950's, the town lost its usefulness and went into decline. Today, Palisade is a ghost town and only ranchers live in the immediate area. The cemetery is in poor condition but apparently still in use.

This is a record from all existing and legible headstones. There are many gravesites with no markers or with illegible wood headboards.

This record was compiled in May 2004

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
