To reach the Forest Hill Cemetery, driving northeast as you enter Fredonia NY, turn left or north onto Temple Street and continue for a couple blocks, then turn right onto Lambert Street. This will take you to the cemetery entrance in a few blocks.

This was formerly a private cemetery when it was established. It is now owned and maintained by the Town of Pomfret. The condition of the cemetery is very good.

Record books survive, and Town of Pomfret personnel are available for questions by appointment. This transcript consists of data from the "Burials by Date" section of Record Books One and Two and the beginning of Three. It covers known burials from late 1854 to 1936. Some maiden names, spouse names, and related items have been have been added from other sources by the 2006 transcribers, Lois and Norwood Barris.

Questions regarding, and corrections for, this transcription may be directed to Lois Barris at lbarris@adelphia.net.

I have transcribed, for the Pomfret Cemetery Archive Volunteer, from the above mentioned records, with permission. There are many unknowns buried in this cemetery besides those listed here. These records are up to Sep 06, 2006.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
