The cemetery large and well maintained. In addition to it's
many sections of lawn also contains three mausoleums. The Ferncliff
Mausoleum, the Shrine Mausoleum and a third which is currently under
construction. The cemetery no longer allows monuments or grave stones
(which can be found there only in the older sections) in the newer sections
they allow only a bronze plaque flush to the ground with the name and
dates of the deceased. These plaques often have a removable urn that
is built into them and which can be lifted for leaving flowers. It is
actually a lovely place to visit with nice landscaping and well-kept
shrubbery. The oldest Mausoleum is a rather spooky labrynthine affair
with grey marble walls, barred windows and many private alcoves. The Shrine mausoleum is a much nicer more
modern affair. The cemetery is perhaps 25 miles north of New York City.
