Old Benge Cemetery
Salina, Mayes County, Oklahoma
Salina, OK 74365
Contributed by Jo Melton, Feb 04, 2005 [jmelton@sstelco.com]. Total records = 6.
In the town of Salina Okla. on highway 20, turn south on Saltwell St. It is on the west side of the street on the south side of the Fire Station.
There are many graves in this cemetery, but there are only 6 headstones with metal markers in front of them. All headstones, but three, are in very bad condition (broken and poorly put back together, plus big pieces missing). There are three graves marked with blue flags.
The Cherokee Nation came and surveyed the property and put the metal markers there so as to identify the ones they were able to find. The metal markers have just the names and years of birth and death on them. All the information was given to me by the County Clerk's at the Police Station of Salina and me actually going to this graveyard. It is in Fair condition.
I have documented this cemetery from photos taken when I visited the cemetery on Nov 25, 2004 along with the above mentioned info.
