Ross Family Cemetery
Locust Grove, Mayes County, Oklahoma

Lat: 36° 10' 40"N, Lon: 95° 09' 35"W, approx

Contributed by Jo Melton, Jan 29, 2005 [jmelton@sstelco.com]. Total records = 13.

To reach Ross Cemetery from Locust Grove, Okla. take highway 82 south about a mile, you will see a big yellow sign that reads: Flea Market and Swap Shop on the left. The cemetery is inside on the left about 50 yards.

There is a sand stone rock wall about 4 feet high that surrounds this cemetery. You can see it from the highway. The gate to the entrance is locked and you can only visit when open on the weekends, except the first weekend of every month.

The cemetery is in fair condition, but I did not find out who owns and maintains it. You can call the Key Funeral Home, which is next door to the cemetery, for information about this cemetery, and to get permission to view it at any time if you do not wish to wait for the Auction on the weekends.

I have documented this cemetery from photos taken when I visited the cemetery on Dec 11, 2004. This transcription contains all existing and legible stones or markers at this time.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
