(Editor's Note: information provided per conversation with cemetery office.) Philadelphia Memorial Park was established in 1929 and it was the first memorial park established in greater Philadelphia. At that time it was a private cemetery and remained thus until about 1992 when it was acquired by Service Corporation International, which has it's headquarters in Houston, Texas.

In the 1950s the German Lutheran Cemetery, which had burials back into the 1800s, moved part of their cemetery to Philadelphia Memorial Park. A section was set apart for these burials. In 1951 American Mechanics Cemetery, at 22nd and Diamond, was relocated to Philadelphia Memorial Park. All of the records are one now, but if we are aware, a note will be made at the end of the entries, showing that they were removed to this cemetery.

Legend:
American Mechanics = AM
German Lutheran = GL

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
