Sand Hill Cemetery
Ned, Greene County, Pennsylvania

Lat: 39° 43' 47"N, Lon: 80° 28' 44"W
Springhill Township

Contributed by Brad Jarvis, Jan 09, 2010, last edited Jan 14, 2010 [forza@windstream.net]. Total records = 743.

From the Route 21/Route 18 split just west of Rogersville, turn on to Route 18 south and follow for 12.3 miles until you come to the town of New Freeport. Turn right on to Deep Valley Road and follow for 2.8 miles until you come to the small village of Deep Valley. Turn left on to Ned Ridge Road and follow for 2.6 miles. The cemetery is located on both sides of the road.

The Sand Hill Church of Christ is located on the left side of the road. A fence acts as a barrier between the road and the cemetery. Access can be gained through several gates or the front entrance to the church.

The cemetery is in good condition and is maintained on a regular basis. Some stones have fallen from their bases and are difficult to read, but the majority are still fairly legible. I found two fieldstone markers, one base with no stone as well as 7 stones that can no longer be read. The oldest section of the cemetery is located on the side of the road where the church stands.

I walked the cemetery on three consecutive days from November 13-15, 2009. This transcription is complete and includes all existing stones. I also have digital photographs of all the stones as well as many views of the cemetery itself and would share them with anyone interested.

    cemetery records

A free online library of cemetery records from thousands of cemeteries across the world, for historical and genealogy research.

    Clear Digital Media, Inc.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
