Saint Helena Island, Beaufort County, South Carolina

Lat: 32° 22' 32"N, Lon: 80° 34' 34"W

Driving northeast on Lands End Road, the cemetery is on the right or east side of the road, just south of the intersection with Club Bridge Road.

Historical Marker Inscription says Saint Helena Church, Beaufort, S.C. Built about 1740. Made a separate church after the revolution. Burned by forest fire Feb 22, 1886.

The Ruins of the Chapel of Ease Church are to the west of the cemetery on the map and called Ruins. The church burned down but the walls remain. It is said the Union troops camped there and destroyed some of the grounds but it was never proven. It is an eerie place.

The graves are scattered about the chapel ruins. AKA Saint Helena Parish Chapel of Ease Cemetery.

I walked and read all existing and legible stones and markers in this cemetery in December of 2011.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
