This cemetery is east of Hwy 90 on the Old Pearsal Road in Mann Crossing on the north side of the road.

Samuel McCulloch, Jr. (1810-1893), was wounded at the battle of Goliad Oct 09, 1835, was one of the first casualties of the Texas revolution. This site is part of land he received in 1850 as a bounty for his service.

The oldest marked grave is that of his father who died in 1855. It became established and known as Medina Baptist Cemetery after Samuel deeded 1.5 acres to the church in 1861. In 1866 the congregation relocated and the site became a community cemetery.

The cemetery was classed as a Historic Texas Cemetery in 1999. The cemetery is now named after Samuel McCulloch Jr.

Buried here are area pioneers, civil war veterans, noted Potter Louis Meyer, and many early citizens of Bexar county. This burial ground is also known as Mann Crossing Cemetery.

My walk through was done in Jan 21, 2004.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
