In Port Royal from the intersection of Hwys 301 & 17, go 2 miles northwest on Hwy 17 for 2.0 miles until you reach Hazelwood Drive. Then you turn north onto Hazelwood Drive and go .5 miles.

The cemetery is on the right, in a middle of a cornfield about 100 yards from the road. It used to be a community here, but now Hazelwood is no more.

Hazelwood Cemetery is a mess, truly abandoned. There are groundhog holes, briars, and overgrown vegetation. It is the resting place of John Taylor a noted Caroline County politician and owner of Hazelwood.

I walked this cemetery on Mar 19, 2005. There may be many more buried here, this is all existing and legible stones.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
