From the intersection of Rtes 3 and 20 in Locust Grove (Wilderness Center), drive 2.5 miles east on Rte. 3 (Plank Rd; Germanna Highway). Laurel Hill Memorial Park is on your left on the westbound side of Route 3.
This cemetery was established in 1980 and has a mausoleum and funeral home on the property that opened in 2000. The property is well maintained, overlooking a small lake and grassy hills. The historic grounds were the site of the battle of Laurel Hill during the Civil War, and are adjacent to Chancellorsville Battlefield Park. There are many military veterans buried here due to proximity to Washington, DC, and one Union soldier, Amos Sparks, is buried here in an unmarked location.
Owner/Operator Contact: Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 540-972-1709. Manager: Jerry Hart. Website: www.laurelhillfuneralhome.com.
I walked the grounds and recorded all legible inscriptions on the headstones and plaques: (Note: Since a large number of stones, plaques and plots are prepurchased through the funeral home, single and duel headstones/plaques with no date of death provided have been excluded from this listing where status cannot be determined with certainty.)
This is all existing and legible stones and markers, from when I visited it on May 8-19, 2011.
