From the Gloucester Bridge go South on US #17. Turn west or left onto Battle Rd (VA-718) continue to the cemetery.

Yorktown National Cemetery is owned and maintained by the National Park Service. It is very well kept and in good condition. A few stones are hidden by bushes, so we could not get to them.

We also compared our readings with the sexton files, adding the burial locations. There is a large number of unknowns buried in this cemetery.

This is a complete listing of all existing and legible tombstones, which J.R. Winall and I transcribed 2003 - 2005.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
