Lincoln County, Washington
Contributed by Pat Rice, Aug 01, 2000, last edited Apr 18, 2009 [rcrice@centurytel.net]. Total records = 21.
The Finnish, or Tolonen, Cemetery lies 13 miles southeast of Almira in Lincoln County. Going from Highway 2 just east of Almira, follow Kiner Road south to Monson Road. Go east on it to Govan Road and then south one mile to the intersection with Field Road. The cemetery is in the extreme northeast corner of T24N R32 Section 7.
A wire fence surrounds this final resting place of Finnish settlers, with many of their stones written in Finnish, making them very difficult to understand. Surnames are CAPITALIZED. The cemetery was walked in May 1999 by Pat Rice and Marge Womach and there are 17 stones, 19 identified burials. Pictures are available from Pat Rice.
