Riverview (Swedish, Johnson) Cemetery
Lincoln County, Washington

Contributed by Pat Rice, Sep 04, 2000, last edited Apr 18, 2009 [rcrice@centurytel.net]. Total records = 62.

Riverside Cemetery is located on the northern border of Lincoln County, with a magnificent view of Lake Roosevelt. The cemetery was begun before the turn of the century as a family cemetery with a strict set of guidelines. Once the Grand Coulee Dam was built and the lake created, graves that had been in the low lands were moved to this cemetery, few of them identified.

The Cemetery is at T28N R36E S31 and is privately owned. For years the cemetery was neglected, but in recent years family members have been holding annual work days and their labors are obvious. At one time there was a small chapel here, family members have erected a small chapel building that they use for appropriate events.

There are numerous graves in one section, all with funeral home markers with no information left on the cards. There are several wood slab markers with no visible markings; one double plank marker with no markings, one simple, small wood cross with no markings.

According to Lartigue's Tombstones of Lincoln County, published in 1974, several graves were moved up from the lowlands before the flooding of the area that eventually became Lake Roosevelt. Those names are below. There are no stones for these graves, nor is the specific location known, only that Ball & Dodd Funeral Home of Spokane moved them to this location.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
