Wheatridge Cemetery is located eight miles south of Wilbur on Highway 21 in the southeast corner of T24N R32 Section 24. It is at the intersection of Highway 21 and Quirk Road.

The cemetery has long been abandoned with many of the graves moved to other sites. Holes pock mark the grasses and it is a bit dangerous to hike recklessly through here.

Probably the most dominant feature of this cemetery is the quonset type tomb on the west boundary. It is the grave site of Lucius Dwinell and J.D. Mershon whose stones are part of the west side of it. Several stories have been told as to the purpose of this unique tomb. Not many graves remain, the marked ones are listed below.

Marge Womach contributed additional research and history on this cemetery. It is also known as the Fairview Cemetery, in newspapers and land records.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
