On 14 Jul 1899 Josef Jiskra and his wife received homestead land from the US government. This property was located on the Butte Creek side of Smith Creek. Relatives stated that Wilhelmina Jiskra died on the farm during childbirth, but no date was given. It is reputed that she is buried on the farm.
