Driving Directions

Anderson Island is located in Pierce County adjacent to Steilacoom, Washington. To reach this quaint little island you must take a 20 minute ferry ride from the town of Steilacoom.

Upon arrival at the Anderson Island ferry dock you will take the main road straight up the hill passing the general store on your right. About a quarter mile past the store you will see a small sign on your right, the cemetery is directly across the street on your left.

Cemetery History

The cemetery is a small, quiet and generally has deer grazing among the headstones. It was dedicated in 1883.

**Lindstrom, A. W. Family, "A sad story goes with this monument. After the death of her husband, Christian, Helda Christensen married A.W. Lindstrom and they had a son, Conrad. They were building a home on Amsterdam Bay. Father and son left to do some work on the house. When they did not return home, someone went to look for them and found them both dead, an apparent murder/suicide. This occurred one day after Helda gave birth to Myrtle who was to live only a year and a half."
