Foster (Lost) Cemetery
Walla Walla County, Washington

Contributed by Rella Gleaton Mar 13, 2001 [rella@ultraplix.com]. Total records = 16.

Foster Cemetery in Walla Walla County is located about halfway between Bolles Jct and Prescott, or 1 1/2 miles West of Prescott on Highway 124 in Sec 1 T9N R36E, just off the highway to the North and recognized by the old locust trees in the middle of a wheat field. The fence is fallen down and it is overgrown with tall weeds. The majority are upright stones.

It is on land originally claimed by Albert N. Brown, a Civil War Veteran, who came here in 1873 from Ohio. It is believed that other graves were moved to the Waitsburg Cemetery. The Lucy A. Spalding who is buried here is the wife of Henry Spalding, said to be a son of the missionary, Henry Spalding, who came West with Marcus Whitman. Historical information was provided by Garland Wilson, an area historian.

The earliest burial was 1870 and the last was 1912. Walked and read by Rella and Jim Gleaton, Nov 1,1999. Transcribed by Rella Gleaton.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
