Note: This cemetery was previously known as "Garfield Cemetery". However, per James G. Storms, Secretary of the cemetery district, the official name of both the cemetery and its district is "Whitman County Cemetery District #2".

Driving Directions

To reach cemetery from Highway 27 North of Garfield. Go South on Highway 27 to 3rd St. turn South (Right), go to Jefferson St., turn West (Right) on Jefferson continue 1/2 mile. Cemetery will be on the South (Left) side of the road up on the hill.

Cemetery History

The cemetery was established after Feb 27 1886. Part of the land for the cemetery was purchased from R. C. & Blanche McCroskey Jul 23, 1891. (Beginning on the West line of section 4 township 17 north of range 45 a distance of Fourteen chains N 2 degrees 30' E. from the one fourth section Corner stake on the west line of said section 4, and at the northwest corner of the trait of land purchased from Charles Welling. Hence Running east 264 feet, hence north 165 feet, hence running west 264 Feet, hence south 165 feet to the place of beginning.

We have not been able to find records showing when the land from Charles Welling was purchased other then it was already owned by the Garfield Cemetery Association in 1891.
