To reach cemetery from the highway take First St south to Cemetery
Rd, then turn left and continue for .7mi. The cemetery can be seen
on the hill as you approach.
This is the cemetery for the town of Farmington and was established
about 1877. The first cemetery started on the old Breeding farm,
which bordered on the state line with Idaho. I have not found
out if this is the same place. This cemetery borders the stateline
also.
This cemetery sits in the middle of farmland on a slight hill,
with evergreen trees scattered throughout the cemetery. The older
section appears to be on the north side. A newer section has been
started on the south side.
The earliest birthdate I found listed is 1800, earliest deathdate
1873. Abbrev: s/w = stone with, s/o = son of, w/o = wife of, h/o
= husband of, d/o = daughter of.
I walked and read this cemetery on Aug 21-23, 2002. A storm stopped
me from completing it in one visit, which was beautiful to watch
as it came in from the mountains of Idaho. Some of my photos show
the darkened sky.
After transcribing from my survey of the cemetery, I compared
my work with that of a previous reading done in 1972 by Carrie
and Weston Lartigue. I have placed an asterisk after names they
had which I found no marker for. If anyone finds an error in this
transcription, please contact me, I would be happy to correct
it, if I have misread the marker.
